The esteemed pro football handicapping competitions, the Westgate SuperContest and SuperContest Gold, are returning for the 2021 NFL season. Sign-ups for both contests start on July 1.

While the fundamental rules of the contest remain unaltered, modifications have been made to the gameplay and the contestants’ remuneration. Two significant changes have been implemented for the SuperContest compared to recent years.

The initial significant alteration is the entry fee for the SuperContest. The Westgate has reduced it from $1,500 to $1,000.

Furthermore, the casino is discontinuing the administration for the contest. Neither SuperContest will have a rake anymore. All contest entry fees will be returned to the participants.

The new lower entry fee and admin fee removal align with the Circa Sports Millions contests.

How to participate in the Westgate SuperContest

The Westgate SuperContest is an established NFL picks contest. Every week, participants choose a side against the spread for five games, with each correct choice earning them a point. The contestant with the highest points accumulated throughout the season or chosen segments (see below) will be declared the winner.

Residents of Nevada have the option to place their picks in person at the Westgate SuperBook or they can use the SuperBook Nevada sports betting app to submit their picks via a mobile device.

Non-residents are also eligible to participate in the Westgate SuperContest. However, each participant must physically sign up for the SuperContest at the Westgate SuperBook. If you are a contestant residing outside of Nevada, you have the option to employ an in-state proxy for making weekly picks.

Proxy services, located in Nevada, have the legal ability to place weekly picks for contestants residing outside the state. While these services require a fee, they provide the opportunity for non-Nevada residents to participate in football contests without needing to reside in the Silver State.

The registration for the Westgate SuperContest begins on July 1. The final date to enter the NFL handicapping contests is Sept. 11.

Mini contests

This year, the SuperContest has introduced several smaller additions. These mini-contests are designed to act as “small” add-ons to the season-long contest. Apart from the regular full-season SuperContest, the SuperContest will also provide nine in-season contests this year.

Due to the NFL schedule being adjusted to 18 weeks, Westgate has modified its mini-contest format. Rather than having four quarterly contests, there will now be six mini-contests, each lasting three weeks. Prizes will be awarded to the top three participants in each segment.

  • First place: $75,000
  • Second place: $25,000
  • Third place: $5,000

Additionally, a few longer in-season contests will be interspersed throughout the season. The upcoming series of mini-contests within the regular season will be slightly extended. This year will feature three contests, each spanning six weeks, during the season. The top five contestants in every segment will receive a prize.

  • First place: $100,000
  • Second place: $50,000
  • Third place: $10,000
  • Fourth place: $5,000
  • Fifth place: $2,500

The overall contest entry fees will be used to fund the guaranteed mini-contest prize pool of $1,132,500. The remaining money from the entry fees will be divided among the winners of the main contest.

Wesgate SuperContest Gold

The SuperContest Gold will continue as it has in previous years. The high roller contest still requires a $5,000 entry fee. The SuperContest Gold offers a single prize: the grand prize, which is 100% of the entry fees and will be awarded to a single winner.

Although the SuperContest Gold has a higher entry fee, its prize may not be as substantial as that of the standard SuperContest. In the previous year, the SuperContest Gold champion won $360,000, while the top prize for the primary SuperContest was $435,623.20.
