Tom Brady speculation continues to grow this NFL off-season.
The future Hall of Fame quarterback is actually fueling a lot of this by himself with incessant and cryptic social media messages. Brady had Patriots fans believing it was a lock that he was heading back to New England earlier this week when on Instagram he invited Julian Edelman for “a catch” back on the East Coast.
Then again Brady also “liked” a post this week that said Philip Rivers and the Chargers were parting ways.
What does that mean?
Is Brady simply patting Rivers on the back for testing free agency at such a late stage of his career? Or is he liking that a QB spot opened up on the West Coast?
Tom Brady to Raiders odds
FanDuel sportsbook currently has odds up for Tom Brady’s Week 1 team. Here are the favorites: Patriots (-400), Raiders (+750), Chargers (+1000) and Dolphins (+1400).
And here are the long-shots: Colts (+1900), Titans (+1900), Cowboys (+2200), Bears (+3400), No Team/Retired (+3400), Carolina Panthers (+6000).
It is quite interesting to see those low Raiders odds.
The Raiders will surely want to make a splash in their new Las Vegas home this fall. What better way to do so than by signing arguably the greatest quarterback of all-time?
Tom Brady to Raiders buzz
There has been plenty of speculation already that the Raiders will be interested in Brady.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported in early February that the Raiders are “poised to purse Brady” if he doesn’t re-sign with the Patriots before the start of free agency.
“Jon Gruden is a long-time admirer of the three-time MVP and six-time Super Bowl champion,” Schefter wrote. “The two have a good relationship and league sources believe that Gruden, who is known to be a highly effective recruiter, wants Brady on the Raiders.”
Brady was also spotted in Las Vegas in January for UFC 246 and was openly chatting with Raiders owner Mark Davis.
Former Raiders and Patriots receiver Antonio Brown also created some “Brady to the Raiders” buzz this week. Brown said that he recently spoke with Gruden and would be interested in returning to the franchise he burned last summer.
Brady and Brown connected both on the field and off during Brown’s brief stint in New England last fall. Could a Vegas-style wedding occur here?
The odds seem to suggest it’s possible.
