This year, the World Series of Poker (WSOP) is going above and beyond to aim for the Main Event to be the largest tournament in its history. The standing record to beat is 8,773 Main Event participants, established in 2006.
The inaugural Main Event Maynia Global Qualification Weekend is scheduled for this weekend, specifically, May 20 and 21.
Main Event Maynia provides participants an opportunity to secure a spot at this year’s World Series of Poker Main Event, scheduled to take place between July 3 and July 17. Furthermore, a player stand a chance to win a Main Event buy-in from WSOP for the subsequent 30 years.
The WSOP itself starts on May 30.
Ty Stewart, Executive Director of World Series of Poker, said:
“History is just months away, and Main Event Maynia is playing a significant role in ensuring this will be the most substantial participant field in the WSOP history. Main Event Maynia has been long awaited and we are grateful to our international network of satellite partners for providing players the opportunity to participate from their local areas.”
Main Event Maynia will be held in 10 casinos within the US and in five other casinos outside the country.
WSOP Maynia spreads across four continents
Players can earn a guaranteed seat in the Main Event at the WSOP in Las Vegas by participating in events at Caesars’ poker rooms located in North America, South America, Europe, and Africa.
The “Step” Guaranteed Seat Satellite tournaments for Main Event Maynia will be accessible with a $140 buy-in. These competitions will culminate in a guaranteed seat at the Main Event, a mega-prize of $1,175, and a travel allowance for a trip to Las Vegas.
If the WSOP Main Event attendance record is broken, all participants in the field will be entered into a draw. The prize is a non-transferable Main Event buy-in, valid for the next 30 years.

Paris Las Vegas expanding by using Horseshoe Hotel tower
Caesars recently revealed plans to expand Paris Las Vegas by incorporating a hotel tower from a neighboring casino into the property.
The Jubilee Tower at Horseshoe is set for renovation and will be transformed into the Versailles Tower in Paris Las Vegas. Caesars plans on constructing a pedestrian bridge to link Paris with this new hotel tower.
The tower at Horseshoe, which is nearest to the Vegas Strip and Grand Bazaar Shops, still stands. The existing Resort Tower on the eastern side of the property will remain part of Horseshoe.
Later this year, Caesars will refurbish all 756 hotel rooms at the Jubilee/Versailles Tower. The connector bridge is set to be finished early next year.
The new “luxury” rooms in the Versailles Tower hotel begin at a size of 436 square feet. Some rooms in the newly built Paris hotel tower will include 55-square-foot balconies.
The new balcony rooms will have a view of the Vegas Strip and Bellagio Fountains.
The Regional President of Caesars Entertainment, Sean McBurney, stated:
“We are aware that our guests, particularly our Caesars Rewards members, are fond of Paris Las Vegas. In the previous year, we have implemented substantial improvements to enhance the location, introducing fresh ideas such as Vanderpump à Paris, Nobu and The Bedford by Martha Stewart. Most recently, we have completely renovated our sportsbook.”
The new hotel tower in Paris will also bring poker players nearer to the newly built 18-table Hall of Fame Poker Room at Horseshoe. However, Paris does not have a poker room of its own.
Typically, hotel rooms in Paris are pricier than those in Horseshoe. The rates are likely to rise further with the proposed upgrades and addition of balconies to some rooms.
