[toc]The World Series of Poker has released its 2018 event schedule.
The 2018 WSOP will run from May 29 through July 17 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The schedule includes 78 WSOP bracelet events. Plus, for the first time ever, a dozen different tournaments will begin after the WSOP Main Event starts.
This includes the return of the $1 million buy-in Big One for One Drop, which will run July 15 to 17, closing out the series.
The 2018 WSOP Main Event
The $10,000 buy-in 2018 WSOP Main Event will run July 2 to 14. It will kick off a little earlier than it has in the past. However, the 2018 WSOP Main Event will still feature its familiar three starting flights. The final one will be held on Independence Day, July 4. The field will combine for the first time on Day 3, July 7, and will play every day until a winner is crowned.
As the pair did in 2017, ESPN and poker content subscription service PokerGO will provide live coverage. Additionally, the full TV and live streaming schedules for all 2018 WSOP events will be released at a later date.
The full 2018 WSOP schedule features a familiar variety of poker games at traditional buy-in levels. However, nine new events have been added to the schedule. These include:
- $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty No-Limit Hold’em
- $100,000 High Roller No-Limit Hold’em
- $365 PLO GIANT
- $1,000 DOUBLE STACK No-Limit Hold’em
- $565 WSOP.com ONLINE Pot-Limit Omaha 6-Handed
- $1,500 BOUNTY Pot-Limit Omaha
- $1,000 DOUBLE-STACK No-Limit Hold’em
- $1,500 THE CLOSER No-Limit Hold’em
- $50,000 High Roller No-Limit Hold’em
Tournaments dropped from the schedule include the $10,000 Tag Team event, a pair of $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em events, and two $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em events.
Four WSOP.com online bracelet events scheduled
The WSOP.com Nevada online poker site will host four official WSOP gold bracelet events this year. This includes the first-ever online Pot-Limit Omaha 6-handed WSOP bracelet event.
The starting times for most events at the Las Vegas casino will remain the same as the past two years. According to the WSOP, most weekday events will begin at 11 a.m. or 3 p.m. Plus, weekend events will begin at 10 a.m. with afternoon flights scheduled for 5 p.m.
The Rio Convention Center’s Pavilion, Brasilia, Miranda, and Amazon ballrooms will continue to host tournaments and cash games throughout the schedule. In fact, the WSOP says it will spread an estimated 500 poker tables across the rooms.
The WSOP plans to release structure sheets for all events its website in January. However, the structures are still awaiting regulatory approval. Online and in-person registration is expected to begin in March 2018.
Following up on a record-breaking year
Online satellites into WSOP events on WSOP.com will begin in February. In 2017, more than 1,000 seats were awarded through WSOP.com.
Additionally, the 2017 WSOP broke records, drawing 120,995 total entries, and creating total prize pools in excess of $231 million. The 2018 WSOP will mark the event’s 49th year in existence.
