Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak officially launched a “Stay at Home” instruction for Nevada inhabitants on Wednesday, April 1. He also prolonged the shutdown of non-essential businesses, gaming, and schools under his previous Emergency Declaration until April 30.
Nevada casinos, which were initially expecting a one-month closure beginning April 18, will now be able to open no sooner than May 1.
The Governor’s Emergency Declaration has a somewhat stronger tone. However, Nevada residents can still step outside for fresh air and patronize necessary businesses such as grocery stores, pharmacies, and gas stations. Restaurants are permitted to stay open for takeout, curbside pickup, and delivery.
Nevada Gambling Options
Even though brick and mortar casinos are closed, there are still several options for gambling. Four mobile sportsbooks and one online poker website are currently in operation.
Placing bets on current sports is largely confined to marginal events such as international table tennis (ping pong), minor foreign soccer leagues, and global esports. In fact, following Governor Sisolak’s Stay at Home announcement, the Nevada Gaming Control Board sanctioned a fresh wave of betting on Counter-Strike esports.
Nevada sportsbooks are preparing for the future with numerous betting options, despite there being no current live US professional sporting events. Circa Sports was the first Nevada sportsbook to release NFL season win totals a fortnight ago. William Hill has since released its own NFL season win totals.
This period is being utilized by all sportsbook operators to concentrate on futures betting options due to the uncertainty of when US sports will recommence. Currently, the initiation of all sports hinges on the deceleration of the coronavirus spread.
One more gambling option is available for those who are not sports bettors. WSOP.com, a poker site, remains open in Nevada in addition to mobile sports betting platforms like BetMGM, Caesars, Circa Sports, and William Hill.
NFL Draft Betting In Nevada
Due to the coronavirus-induced closure of non-essential businesses in Nevada, the NFL was forced to cancel the 2020 Draft. The event was originally scheduled to happen adjacent to Caesars Forum, behind Harrah’s and The Linq casinos. There are discussions suggesting that the NFL Draft may be held in Las Vegas in the forthcoming years.
Even though the live event has been cancelled, the NFL will still proceed with the 2020 draft. This could potentially be the busiest year for the NFL Draft in Nevada’s sportsbooks. All four mobile sports betting apps are providing NFL Draft proposition bets. BetMGM and William Hill, notably, have the greatest number of prop bets available.
At William Hill, three players have drawn at least 90% of the total number of tickets on one side of their draft position prop.
92% of betting slips predict Iowa offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs will be selected before the 8.5th pick in the draft. Similarly, 91% believe Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy will be picked before the 12.5th choice, while the same percentage predicts Louisville offensive tackle Mekhi Becton will be chosen after the 7.5th selection.
Being “drafted under” a number implies being chosen earlier in the draft. For instance, 91% of bettors are betting that Jerry Jeudy will be among the first 12 picks and not wait until the 13th pick. Due to a significant amount of money being wagered on Mekhi Becton’s over, his draft position prop has shifted from 4.5 to 7.5.
