Virgin Hotels Las Vegas Will Pop Its Cherry March 25, 2021

After a series of delays, Virgin Hotels Las Vegas is officially set to open on March 25, 2021. The hotel will be a part of the Curio Collection by Hilton. Upon opening, most (but not all) of its amenities and Mohegan Sun Casino will be ready to welcome customers.

Once upon a time, Virgin Las Vegas was planning to open by Election Day 2020. What a long, strange trip it’s been. President and CEO of JC Hospitality, owner of Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, Richard “Boz” Bosworth echos that sentiment:

“It has been a journey, but to finally reach this milestone and confidently announce our opening date would not be possible without our incredible partners and construction team.”

“Today we are not only celebrating the fact that we finally get to welcome back guests to the most exciting resort to open in Las Vegas in years, but we also get to bring our team members back to work.”

Virgin Las Vegas is a reimagination of the property that was once home to Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. JC Hospitality teamed up with five world-class design and construction partners to create the new property.

Rockwell Group, Klai Juba Wald Architecture + Interiors, Studio Collective, Taylor International Corporation, and McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. all chipped in to complete the project while many businesses were sidelined due to the coronavirus pandemic.

What to expect at Virgin Las Vegas

Virgin Hotels is renovating and upgrading the former Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Some parts of the property will look familiar but most venues will be different. The Las Vegas outpost for Virgin will be different than its other properties around the world.

For starters, Virgin Las Vegas will have a casino. Since the hotel company lacks casino experience operating casinos another company will handle casino operations.

Mohegan Sun will operate most of the gaming space at Virgin Las Vegas. Mohegan Sun will bring its Momentum Rewards program to Las Vegas for the first time. This will be tailored for Las Vegas and connect with properties elsewhere.

Virgin Las Vegas will operate the hotel in conjunction with Hilton. Virgin Las Vegas will be part of the Curio Collection by Hilton.

AEG will manage the entertainment space formerly known as The Joint. JC Hospitality is looking for a naming rights partner for the venue.

There are lots of moving pieces to Virgin Las Vegas. Unfortunately, the entire gaming floor won’t be ready when the property opens in late March.

Betfred Sportsbook will open later this summer

Sports bettors will have to wait a little while before wagering with a new sportsbook operator in Nevada. Betfred is slated to operate the sportsbook inside Virgin Las Vegas.

The Betfred retail sportsbook will open during the summer. The Betfred sports betting app won’t be available until later this year. Las Vegas sports bettors will have to wait a few more months to wager with the company that currently operates overseas and in Colorado, Pennsylvania, and Iowa.
