After being closed for 415 days, Virgin Hotels Las Vegas has finally reopened. The latest casino and hotel in Las Vegas, it is situated at what was formerly the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, just off the Vegas Strip on Harmon Avenue.
The new property is a creative revamp of the former casino that once occupied this land. It is now a stunning new casino and hotel with a desert oasis theme. Adorned with natural tones, gems, and plants, the whole property, including the lobby, exudes a sense of tranquil beauty.
The casino and hotel are awash with vibrant colors. Virgin presents an entirely different appearance and ambiance compared to its predecessor. However, recent guests might spot some resemblances to the former casino, as the refurbishments involved repurposing some of the old spaces.
Not only Virgin is linked to this property that engages multiple operators. This business model, although increasingly popular over the years, isn’t usually marketed explicitly. A case in point is the recent sale of The Venetian, which will introduce a variety of landowners and property managers.
It is important to note initially that Sir Richard Branson, the founder of the Virgin brand, will have minimal involvement with the hotel and casino. The entire property is actually owned by a company known as JC Hospitality.
Virgin will manage the hotel and its amenities while Mohegan Sun will run the majority of the casino. Both are separate brands catering to hotel guests and casino visitors respectively. Despite the property sporting the Virgin name, the casino maintains its own distinct branding.
The two distinct brands should appeal to diverse customers. Virgin, a globally recognized brand with a renowned hotel chain, and Mohegan Sun, a popular casino brand among gamblers in the north Atlantic states, are expected to draw different types of clientele.

All rooms at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas have undergone renovation since the Hard Rock era. The refresh has introduced new colors and furnishings, providing a distinctly different look. In a unique twist, the hotel has replaced the term “rooms” with “chambers”. You are invited to explore one of the hotel towers and its chambers.

Virgin’s hotel room prices distinguish themselves in Las Vegas by not including a resort fee. While the rooms are not necessarily cheaper, the pricing is a bit clearer. When compared to Aria, Virgin’s room prices are more affordable. However, compared to some of the mid-range hotels that dominate the Vegas Strip area, Virgin’s rooms are more costly.
Most off-strip hotels in Las Vegas, including this one, offer free self-parking. However, not all parking services are complimentary. For a relatively minor fee, valet service is available. This service costs $6 per vehicle for up to 3 hours, with a daily maximum charge of $20.
The Virgin Hotels Las Vegas is a part of the Hilton’s Curio Collection. It is Hilton that powers the primary hotel booking engine for this Las Vegas property. Additionally, Hilton Honors, one of the world’s largest hotel rewards programs, provides rewards to its customers.
Regular guests of Virgin Hotels in various cities can take advantage of The Know loyalty program, but they must make their reservations through the Virgin Hotels website.
Having two loyalty programs might appear excessive, but there’s even a third one specifically for gamblers.
Mohegan Sun Casino
The Mohegan Sun, a Native American tribe, is the pioneer in operating a casino within the Vegas Strip area. The company oversees most of the gaming space at Virgin, which totals 60,000 square feet. Despite having control over the 650 slot machines and over 50 table games, Mohegan Sun does not operate the sportsbook.
When the sportsbook officially opens this summer, Betfred will be in charge of its operations. Currently, the sportsbook is accessible for game viewing, but its betting desk will shut down later in the year. In addition, Betfred plans to launch a new sports betting app.
Hotel guests can avail themselves of Hilton Rewards and The Know, while gamblers can utilize Momentum Rewards. The same rewards program used in other Mohegan Sun properties is also linked to Las Vegas.
This will enable guests from the East Coast to utilize and accumulate rewards in Las Vegas and similarly, Las Vegas guests can do the same on the East Coast. The benefits offered in Las Vegas differ from those provided by Mohegan Sun properties located outside of Las Vegas.
