G2E Preview – iGaming Congress Helps Kick off Event

Written By James Guill on September 28, 2015
The Global Gaming Expo is ready to rock and roll.

The premier event for the gambling industry, the 2015 Global Gaming Expo (G2E), begins on Tuesday at the Sands Expo and Conventions Center in Las Vegas. The event showcases gaming executives, tribal leaders, corporate management, and other significant professionals from the global gaming industry.

The American Gaming Association (AGA) and Reed Exhibitions have been hosting the G2E annually since its inception in 2001. Attendees can look forward to experiencing a wide variety of products and services from all facets of the gaming industry, iGaming included.

Today, we briefly overview what’s scheduled for the 2015 G2E.

2015 iGaming Congress Kicks off on Monday

The conference officially commences on Tuesday, however, seminars including the 2015 iGaming Congress start on Monday. The iGaming Congress discusses issues and products related to iGaming at local, national, and international levels.

Here are some of the seminars scheduled for Monday:

  • From 9 AM to 10 AM: “The Legal Side of iGaming: Consequences, Opportunities and Concerns” will be the topic of discussion. This panel, led by Kevin Cochran from Gaming Compliance, will focus on the evolution of iGaming in the U.S. and globally.
  • From 1:15 PM to 2:15 PM, there will be a seminar on Dr. Heather Gray’s latest research on Internet Gambling. The seminar will delve into her findings about the impact of Iceland’s internet lottery on the public health of its citizens.
  • From 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM, a session titled “Lessons Learned: Late iGaming Adopters Leg Up” will be held. Representatives from the Golden Nugget and iGaming Capital will discuss the benefits of entering the iGaming industry during its second wave, after the initial launch.

These are merely a few of the seminars that will be accessible. Although iGaming seminars will be held throughout G2E, Monday will be the day where they are most prominently featured.

What Else to Expect During G2E

The G2E website states that 88 distinct seminars are planned during the four-day event. Besides the iGaming Congress on Monday, participants also have the opportunity to participate in the G2E Intensive Educational Programs, which encompass the following:

  • Tribal Gaming
  • Security & Surveillance
  • Institute for Compliance, Law & Regulation – An IMGL Masterclass
  • Global Gaming Women

From Tuesday to Thursday, attendees have the opportunity to participate in seminars, executive roundtable discussions, and other sessions covering topics such as:

  • Sports betting
  • Millennial customers
  • Internet gaming
  • Skill based gaming
  • Technology in Integrated Resorts and Hotels
  • And many more

iGaming Will Receive Adequate Focus

iGaming topics will be discussed not only on Monday but throughout the conference. Numerous iGaming companies and providers such as IGT, Betrader, Scientific Games, Spin Games, Aristocrat, Everi, NYX Gaming Group, Gaming Intelligence, and Spectrum Gaming Group are expected to exhibit during the event.

Several seminars are scheduled for Tuesday that are worth attending. Two seminars at 10:30 AM will delve into the future of grey market areas and regulation concerning sports betting and DFS in America. Another seminar at 2 PM will discuss potential business opportunities arising from DFS and sports betting.

The single iGaming session scheduled for Wednesday might turn out to be one of the conference’s most intriguing as it addresses the Tribal perspective on online gambling. Representatives from the Cherokee Nation, Pechanga, San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, and the Comanche Nation are all anticipated to participate in this panel discussion. It promises to be both enlightening and engaging.

Although we don’t anticipate any significant revelations at G2E, it will be intriguing to observe if there has been any shift in the attitudes of some iGaming opponents, and if there could potentially be any regulatory changes in 2016.
