2021 WSOP Schedule of Events

After some delay, the full schedule for the 2021 World Series Of Poker (WSOP) has finally been released. The WSOP tournament will be held in person at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, as usual.

“WSOP Vice President and Tournament Director, Jack Effel, expressed immense excitement to welcome everyone back to Las Vegas and the Rio, stating, ‘The entire WSOP team is devotedly working to guarantee that players have the most exceptional experience possible.'”

The 2021 World Series of Poker (WSOP) is slated to start on Thursday, September 30, and conclude before the Thanksgiving holiday on Tuesday, November 23. Registration for this year’s WSOP, both online and in-person, will commence in August.

WSOP mostly returning to normal

Typically, the WSOP would already be in progress as a summer event in a standard year. However, the previous year has deviated from the norm due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the delay of the poker tournament, it is set to resume as a predominantly live event.

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is reverting to its conventional structure and familiar location, allowing more players to participate in the poker tournament. This is a shift from the hybrid event format used last year.

The WSOP is set to return to its familiar location, the 200,000 square foot Rio Convention Center, where it will once again host a diverse array of tournaments. This year, the WSOP will feature all popular poker variations with entry fees ranging from $400 to a whopping $250,000.

“Without a doubt, the 2021 WSOP is going to be authentic and we’re gearing up for a packed house. In the light of the rich history of the WSOP, this year is set to be particularly unforgettable and we’re readying for a poker reunion that all players can revel in,” stated Ty Stewart, the Executive Director of WSOP, who is presiding over his 16th WSOP.

The Main Event

The WSOP’s most notable and esteemed event is the $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em World Championship, also known as “Main Event”. In 2019, this event surpassed 8,000 entrants, marking only the second occurrence in history. The event saw its largest turnout in 2006.

The Main Event in 2019 drew in 8,569 participants and boasted a total prize pool of $80,548,600, with the winner taking home $10,000,000. Will poker players flock back to Las Vegas to exceed that participation number and generate an even bigger prize pool?

This year, participants in the Main Event will have a choice of four starting flights.

  • Thursday, Nov. 4 is Day 1A.
  • Friday, Nov. 5 is Day 1B.
  • Saturday, Nov. 6 is Day 1C.
  • Sunday, Nov. 7 is Day 1D.

The Final Table of The Main Event is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 16 and Wednesday, Nov. 17. CBS, the new TV partner of WSOP, will broadcast at least 15 hours of the 2021 Main Event coverage.

The deep-stack tournament will proceed until the Main Event Final Table on Tuesday, Nov. 16 and Wednesday, Nov. 17.

New WSOP Events for 2021

The WSOP could easily satisfy its players by simply hosting a large, in-person poker event. However, they’ve decided to introduce some new tournaments to their roster.

Stewart expresses his excitement stating, “We’re extremely happy to present a full roster of must-attend events, inclusive of all our main attractions and the assortment that players deserve.”

Here are the highlights of the latest and most popular events at WSOP 2021:

  • On October 1, a $500 event named “The Reunion” will take place as part of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) opening weekend. This event guarantees a prize pool of $5,000,000 and is expected to attract more than 10,000 participants.
  • From October 8th to November 19th, the “Return of the Record Breakers” will take place. Every Friday and Saturday during the 2021 World Series of Poker (WSOP), one of the tournament’s flagship No-Limit Hold’em events will be held. Popular events such as The Millionaire Maker, Monster Stack, Double Stack, Colossus, and The Closer are all set to return, offering multi-million dollar prize pools and significant value.
  • October 5 marks the WSOP’s annual Heads Up No-Limit Hold’em Championship. This year, the buy-in has been increased to $25,000. In an effort to maintain an exclusive atmosphere, the championship has a limit of 64 players.
  • October 10 will feature the “$1,000 Flip and Go Presented by GG Poker”. This event, which was previously an online format, has now been transformed into a live one. In this event, every player will go all in preflop on the first hand, receive three cards and choose two. The player who wins the table will instantly progress into the money. Following this, the tournament will continue under a conventional structure.
  • Nov. 19: The Nosebleed Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO): This is set to be the World Series of Poker’s (WSOP) most expensive PLO tournament entry fee ever. The event, with a buy-in of $50,000, will highlight a distinguished High Roller series, planned to take place after the Main Event.
