BetMGM Championship at Aria Las Vegas

Las Vegas is getting a new big poker extravaganza.

The first BetMGM Poker Championship is scheduled for June 23-26. The newest poker tournament in Las Vegas will take place at Aria.

The BetMGM Poker Championship will actually be a part of the larger Aria Poker Classic. The summer poker action will be at Aria from June 1 to July 17.

“The first-ever BetMGM Poker Championship descends on Las Vegas during one of the most exciting times of the poker season,” Luke Staudenmaier, Director of Poker at BetMGM, said.

Staudenmaier continued by saying:

“Aria is a legendary poker brand and we’re thrilled that the Championship has become an integral part of this year’s Poker Classic. Through our relationship with MGM Resorts and its world-class U.S. properties, we’ll continue to leverage event programming and connect with players both online and in their favorite poker rooms.”

The big event during the BetMGM Poker Championship at Aria is a $3,500 buy-in no-limit hold ’em tournament. The tournament has a $1 million prize guarantee.

In addition to this three-day event, there will be a $600 buy-in BetMGM Poker Mystery Bounty on Saturday, June 25. This will be the first time Aria offers a bounty.

BetMGM online poker players in each of the following states can participate in daily qualifiers and weekly satellites to earn entry to the event at other prizes:

  • New Jersey
  • Michigan
  • Pennsylvania

BetMGM does not offer an online poker room in Nevada — yet. This could be a tell that a BetMGM online poker room will be coming to Nevada sooner than later.

The online poker packages from BetMGM include:

  • Buy-in for the BetMGM Poker Championship
  • Travel expenses
  • A five-night stay at Aria

The buy-in alone has a value of $3,500. Hotel room rates at Aria for this weekend as of the writing of this article are $229-$299 plus resort fee and taxes per night. Altogether this is a solid pre-tournament prize for poker players in the three states with BetMGM online poker rooms.

WSOP Not The Only Game In Town

There was a time that the World Series of Poker (WSOP) would be the only big live summer poker event in Las Vegas. That’s no longer the case. There will be a variety of large poker events taking place all over town this summer.

The WSOP is moving to the Vegas Strip this summer. WSOP events will take place at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas for the first time. Caesars, owner of Bally’s and WSOP is rebranding the casino.

Eventually, WSOP should take place at Horseshoe Las Vegas. This would be a return to the past for the WSOP brand which initially was played at Horseshoe casino in downtown Las Vegas.

Poker players visiting Las Vegas can participate in the WSOP on the Vegas Strip as well as a variety of poker events around town.

Summer Poker Events Around Las Vegas

There are no less than four other Las Vegas poker events this summer. Poker players can play more events on the Vegas Strip or head downtown or west for some more action.

The Venetian DeepStack Series is already underway. This series has three months of live poker events that continue through July 31.

The Venetian guarantees more than $22 million in prizes throughout the event. Here’s the full schedule of Venetian DeepStack Series events taking place this summer.

Wynn’s Summer Classic runs from May 31 to July 20. There are seven events with guarantees of $1 million or more. Buy-ins range from $500 to $5,200.

The $3,500 buy-in No-Limit Hold ‘em Championship has the largest prize pool of $3.5 million. Here’s the full schedule of Wynn’s Summer Classic events.

This summer, the Golden Nugget has its Grand Poker Series. The events take place from May 31 to July 3 at the casino at the Fremont Street Experience in downtown Las Vegas.

The largest events in this series have guaranteed prize pools from $250,000 to $1,000,000. There are numerous $250,000 guaranteed prize events.

Golden Nugget’s Grand Poker Series has a single event with a $500,000 prize and another with a million dollars. Find the full Golden Nugget Grand Poker Series schedule here.

The 2022 Orleans Summer Open takes place at the Boyd Casinos property just off the Vegas Strip. These events take place at the Orleans from May 31 to July 10.

The $1,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold ‘Em Championship event in mid-June has the largest guaranteed prize pool of all tournaments in the series. This tournament has $750,000 in guaranteed prizes.
