In 2021, Resorts World Las Vegas was inaugurated as the sole casino on the Vegas Strip providing cashless transactions throughout the property. This year, with the support of its fintech partner, Sightline, the property has introduced an even more convenient method for cashless payments.
The original version has been enhanced by the new Resorts World Las Vegas Mobile+ app. The features of the app include:
- Verification of remote identity
- Registration for loyalty and payments
- Authentication through biometrics
- Individual digital wallet
Sightline’s co-CEO, Omer Sattar, stated:
“We commend Resorts World Las Vegas for their innovative approach, their diligent efforts to enhance user experience, and for propelling the entire industry forward.”
However, sports bettors in Nevada have been eagerly awaiting a specific feature. Most sports betting apps in the US provide a convenient method for users to create a sports betting account without the need to first visit a casino. This feature, however, is still not available in Nevada.
Despite the ongoing exclusion of Nevada sports bettors from online registration, Resorts World Vegas allows table game and slot players to set up their accounts remotely.
Sign in to your casino account with Resorts app
Resorts World now allows casino-goers to pre-fund their gambling accounts before their visit. Players can top up their account from any location, ready to enjoy the slot machines and table games when they arrive.
Guests at Resorts World previously had to fund their accounts in person at the casino. This in-person requirement is no longer necessary.
Meanwhile, in Nevada, sports bettors are still required to go through the outdated in-person registration process to open a mobile betting account.
“Sattar acknowledges the significance of setting up remote accounts in Nevada,” he stated.
Innovative technology evolves, and this second generation enhances the accessibility of cashless gaming, offering a superior experience for users. We are eager to collaborate with Resorts World Las Vegas in developing future iterations.
The latest Resorts World app, sometimes referred to as RWLV in certain app stores, enables guests to add funds to a new or existing mobile casino account without the need to visit a physical casino. However, this feature of setting up an account remotely is only applicable for expenditures outside the sportsbook.
An easier, faster cashless casino experience
The previous version of the Resorts World app necessitated a two-step process to deposit funds and play without cash.
Previously, users were required to transfer funds from their Play+ account to their wagering account. Only after this could they move funds to a slot machine or table game.
The customer previously needed to transfer funds back to their Play+ account in order to use Resorts World’s cashless service elsewhere. Currently, this process is automatically handled in the background, eliminating the need for the guest to take the additional steps.
According to Rick Hutchins, the Senior Vice President of Casino Operators at Resorts World,
“Today, we have substantially reduced the time and effort for those wishing to utilize cashless gaming and sign up for Genting Rewards during their visit to our resort. I’m excited that we’re leading the way in streamlining this process for our guests, thus providing them more time to concentrate on their main purpose of being here: to have fun.”
In addition to eliminating a step, going cashless at Resorts World will now be instantaneous, removing any wait time. During the opening weekend, guests experienced over an hour wait to use the service. Prior to this app update, there could still have been a wait to set up a cashless gaming account during peak weekends.
This convenience comes with a fee. Resorts World imposes a charge of 2.95% on the total transaction. This means that for every $100 deposited into an account, the user will have to pay a fee of $2.95.
Sorry, Nevada sports betting app users
Anyone wishing to establish an account for a Nevada sports betting app, including the Resorts World sports betting app, must first visit a sportsbook located inside a casino.
Although the non-sports app currently provides numerous services, it does not have a connection with the Resorts World sports betting app.
Establishing a mobile sports betting account in Nevada isn’t overly time-consuming, but it’s not as straightforward as simply opening the app, adding funds, and starting to play.
To initiate the process of opening new sports betting accounts in Nevada, one must usually download the app and provide some personal details. However, before placing a legal sports bet via a mobile app, all new users are required to show their ID to an individual at a full-service sportsbook within a casino.
When an account is established, a player has the ability to deposit funds into the sportsbook free of charge. Once the account has been set up and initially funded, a user can directly add money via the app. The sportsbook could implement a fee for mobile funding, similar to the cashless system of Resorts World.
The entire process inside the casino takes approximately 10 minutes. Although signing up isn’t particularly difficult, it’s slightly more complex compared to other states where sports betting is legal. Most of the country allows individuals to set up a mobile sports betting account anywhere they please.
This sign-up requirement implies that Nevada sports betting apps function on unique platforms separate from the rest of the country. Consequently, apps from the same company are not compatible with each other.
Despite using any of the following apps outside Nevada, individuals will still need to download the Nevada version of the app and register for a new account:
- BetMGM
- Caesars
- Circa
- SuperBook (Westgate)
- Hill William
- Wynn
The process of tourists placing bets on their mobile devices isn’t as challenging as it is irritating and time-consuming.
More cashless casino gaming in Nevada
Station Casinos introduced cashless gaming in October, distinct from Resorts World’s cashless gaming as it necessitates a second app.
The STN Cash app is connected to the Station Casinos’ Boarding Pass rewards program. Unlike the other Station Casinos app, it doesn’t provide non-gaming services such as hotel and restaurant information.
Players need to visit the casino cage at a Station Casinos property to open their accounts, unlike the new Resorts World Las Vegas Mobile+ app. The cashless gaming option at Station Casinos properties is restricted to machine games such as slots, video poker, keno, and electronic table games.
Station Casinos, like Resorts World, utilizes Sightline technology. A Sightline representative informed Play Innevada that an enhancement to Station Casinos’ cashless system is planned for the future, but a specific timeline for this upgrade has not been provided.
Aliante, owned by Boyd Gaming, also utilizes the same cashless system and is expected to adopt the new technology in the future.
