Recently, Elevation Entertainment proposed plans to construct a new casino in Reno. Should Elevation secure approval, it would result in the first completely new casino resort in Reno since the inauguration of Silver Legacy in 1995.
The CEO and owner of Elevation Entertainment based in California, Ryan Stone, said to KOLO-TV:
Reno is among the rapidly expanding cities in the country. Given its established gaming industry and favorable construction location, we believe that introducing a new entertainment destination will appeal to the entire market. This project is both new and exciting.
Developers are showing increased interest in the Nevada gambling market, particularly in the northern part of the state. Legends Bay Casino in Sparks opened earlier this year, reflecting this trend.
Firecreek Crossing Resort-Casino details
The new property is being named Firecreek Crossing Resort-Casino by Elevation, although this could change as the situation progresses.
Elevation’s plans involve merging 20 acres of unused land adjacent to Firecreek Shopping Center and opposite the Reno-Sparks convention center. The property will also feature an entrance to the shopping center.
The Firecreek hotel, with its 201 rooms, is set to serve business travelers attending the convention center and leisure travelers seeking traditional casino entertainment. The facilities of the hotel will encompass:
- Pool on the rooftop
- Numerous eateries
- Court of Cuisine
- Garden for beer
The company is also suggesting the creation of a public park on the property. As the property is still in the early stages of planning, specific details are scarce. The California-based company has agreed to buy the land, however, the transaction is not yet finalized.
New Reno casino games
Besides the hotel, the property will feature a 62,500-square-foot casino gaming floor, housing 1,250 slot machines and over 40 table games, including poker. While it’s uncertain whether there will be a dedicated poker room in the Reno casino, a sportsbook will definitely be available.
Station Casinos land
The Las Vegas casino operator, Stations Casinos, bought eight out of the 20 acres of land for this property. Previously, they had other plans for a property in Reno.
Originally, Station Casinos intended to construct a casino without a hotel on this property. The initial design for a Reno property involved a smaller gaming floor of 21,000 square feet, featuring a sportsbook and a bar.
The company planned to include four restaurants, a movie theater and a bowling alley, like many other properties of Station Casinos in Las Vegas.
Station Casinos has sold its land in Reno in a bid to double its Las Vegas casino portfolio. Currently, the company is constructing the Durango Casino in the southwest region of Las Vegas.
Station Casinos is following a similar approach with real estate from casinos that remained closed after the pandemic. Earlier this year, the company demolished three of its older properties.
The land where Fiesta Henderson once operated was sold for $32 million. No transactions have been made for the land where Texas Station and Fiesta Station previously operated. Station Casinos is already planning beyond its Durango property and recently proposed a new casino for the Inspirada area of Las Vegas.
