The 2017 World Series of Poker (WSOP) is set to take place in just three months, featuring a line-up of 74 events that will offer poker players worldwide the opportunity to win hundreds of millions of dollars.
Event buy-ins ranging from $333 to $111,111 might make it difficult for some individuals to participate. However, Nevada players have the opportunity to qualify online and participate in the WSOP for a minimal cost of $10 at WSOP.com.
How to qualify for the WSOP
WSOP.com is currently running satellites for the WSOP, offering a range of different packages to accommodate everyone’s schedule.
All Nevada residents have the ability to legally deposit online poker funds on WSOP.com and participate in any of the satellites. If you emerge victorious, you will be automatically enrolled in the event you prefer.
Here are some of the events for which you can qualify:
WSOP Main Event
The Main Event of the 2017 WSOP, with a buy-in of $10,000, is undoubtedly the main attraction. In the previous year, the total prize pool reached an incredible $63.3 million, with more than 6,000 participants each contributing a $10,000 buy-in. Qui Nguyen emerged as the event’s winner, earning slightly over $8 million and the bracelet. This year, qualifying for the event is possible with just a $500 payment each Sunday at 7:30 p.m. PT.
WSOP online events
The WSOP is creating history this year with three online-exclusive events on WSOP.com, in contrast to the solitary online poker event in past years. The events have buy-ins of $333, $1,000, and $3,333, and qualifying rounds for all three are held every Sunday at 7:00 p.m. PT via a $100 satellite event.
Colossus III
The Colossus event holds the record for the largest-field event at the WSOP. Its two previous versions were the largest live poker tournaments ever conducted. The events attracted 22,374 participants in 2015 and 21,613 the following year.
With a mere $565 buy-in, this event attracts thousands of players who enter and re-enter. Last year, the event was won by Benjamin Keeline, a professional poker player and Uber driver, who walked away with $1 million from his $565 entry. Weekly qualifications for this event are held every Sunday at 17:45 and cost just $10.
WSOP opening weekend
The 2017 WSOP run starts with the Casino Employees’ Event, followed by the first weekend of the tournament. This includes the potentially record-breaking Colossus III event and the lowest-ever bracelet event buy-in, a $333 online event. You have the opportunity to qualify for both these events every Sunday at 4:45 p.m. PT for just $30 each.
$1,000 WSOP events
The WSOP features multiple $1,000 events, which are typically the most budget-friendly and frequent buy-in events in the series.
Qualifying online makes them even more affordable – you can secure your seat for a mere $10 in tournaments that occur every Sunday at 6:45 p.m. PT.
