Players based in Nevada will soon need to adapt in order to remain competitive on WSOP.com.
The decision by WSOP to merge players from Nevada, New Jersey, and Delaware will enrich the experience in each state. Furthermore, WSOP.com is pioneering as the first online poker site to provide shared liquidity with players from these three states.
However, this new experience necessitates creating a new account. Due to regulations in New Jersey, all accounts must operate through servers based in the state. Thus, everyone must head to the Garden State.
This week, a pre-registration period began and will extend until May 1. To incentivize its Nevada customers to register early, WSOP.com offered incentives such as the opportunity to win a free $10,000 Main Event seat.
What Nevada players need to do to start the move
Migrate your account to the NJ client
To begin with, you must create a new account, which you can initiate here. As you open this new account, your existing Nevada account will be deactivated. Most of your details, including bankroll, loyalty points, and tournament tickets, will be transferred to New Jersey. However, WSOP.com guarantees this transfer only if you pre-register before May 1.
It is probable that your screen name will stay the same, although there are exceptions if a player from New Jersey already owns it or if someone who migrated earlier claimed it. Also, be aware that hand histories and player notes will not be retained during the move.
Currently, there is a signup bonus that will enhance your bankroll. It matches 100 percent up to $1,000. However, during the pre-registration period, WSOP will not accept any deposits or wager for the site intended for interstate-play.
Confirm your eligibility
You must verify your eligibility via the standard Know Your Customer (KYC) check before you can start playing. This enables WSOP.com to confirm your identity and location.
Should you fail, you have the option to upload documents in preparation for the new site. If you have recently relocated, your new address may not be recognized in the KYC check, and this method allows you to verify it.
Download the new client
When the migration day arrives, WSOP will temporarily suspend all games for a few hours to ease the transition. Once the site is live again, you will have to update your desktop or mobile software. Even though you’ll continue to log into the Nevada site, you’ll be redirected behind the scenes to the New Jersey servers.
Should you encounter any problems, you can contact WSOP.com customer service at any time. They are available 24 hours a day. You can reach them at 1-866-745-2385 or [email protected]
Also available on the WSOP site is a comprehensive FAQ. If you’re attending the live World Series of Poker (WSOP) this summer, watch out for the Lambada Room. It houses WSOP.com customer service representatives who can assist you in setting up your account.
