Elevation Entertainment has recently proposed plans for the construction of a brand-new casino in Reno. If approved, it will be Reno’s first entirely new casino resort since the Silver Legacy was established in 1995.
KOLO-TV was informed by Ryan Stone, the CEO and owner of Elevation Entertainment based in California:
Recognized for its flourishing gaming industry and prime location for construction, Reno is one of the country’s fastest-growing cities. We view the introduction of a new entertainment destination as an exciting project that will appeal to the entire market.
Developers looking to enter the Nevada gambling market are showing increased interest in the northern part of the state. Earlier this year, Legends Bay Casino opened in Sparks.
Firecreek Crossing Resort-Casino details
Elevation has christened the new property as Firecreek Crossing Resort-Casino, although the name could change as the action unfolds.
Elevation’s plans involve the amalgamation of 20 acres of unused land adjacent to Firecreek Shopping Center and opposite the Reno-Sparks convention center. The property will also feature an entrance to the shopping center.
The Firecreek Hotel, with its 201 rooms, is set to serve both business travelers attending the convention center and leisure travelers seeking traditional casino entertainment. The hotel will feature:
- Rooftop pool
- Multiple restaurants
- Food court
- Beer garden
The company is also suggesting the creation of a public park on the property. However, as the planning stage is still underway, details are scarce. The California-based company has reached an agreement to buy the land, but the transaction has not yet been finalized.
New Reno casino games
Besides the hotel, the property is set to feature a casino gaming floor spanning 62,500 square feet, equipped with 1,250 slot machines and over 40 table games. Poker will be included among the table games on offer. However, it remains uncertain whether the Reno casino will have a dedicated poker room. A sportsbook will definitely be part of the establishment.
Station Casinos land
Stations Casinos acquired eight out of the 20 acres of land for this property. Previously, the Las Vegas casino operator had alternate plans for a property in Reno.
Station Casinos originally intended to construct a casino without a hotel on this plot. The initial design for a Reno property involved a more compact 21,000-square-foot gaming floor, complete with a sportsbook and bar.
The company planned to incorporate four restaurants, a movie theater, and a bowling alley in the property, following the trend of many Las Vegas Station Casinos establishments.
Station Casinos has sold its Reno land as it plans to expand its Las Vegas casino portfolio by twofold. The Durango Casino, which is currently under construction in the southwest region of Las Vegas, is part of the company’s expansion plan.
Station Casinos, earlier this year, demolished three of its older properties, following a similar strategy with real estate from casinos that never reopened post-pandemic.
The land where Fiesta Henderson was formerly located has been sold for $32 million. However, no transactions have been made yet for the spaces that previously housed Texas Station and Fiesta Station. Station Casinos is already setting its sights beyond its Durango property, having recently proposed a new casino in the Inspirada section of Las Vegas.
