This year, downtown Las Vegas casinos have seen the opening of two new retail sportsbooks. Both of these new additions are perfectly suited to their respective casino floors.

As part of a property expansion, Boyd Gaming’s Fremont Hotel and Casino launched a FanDuel-branded sportsbook. Meanwhile, Caesars Sportsbook inaugurated its first retail location in downtown Las Vegas, located inside Downtown Grand.

Despite being newly branded sportsbooks, neither of them provides odds that are different from the previous locations.

Caesars Sportsbook at Downtown Grand

The original William Hill sportsbook, which has been operational since 2007 when Downtown Grand opened, has now been replaced by the new Caesars Sportsbook. This is the solitary downtown Las Vegas location for Caesars Sportsbook.

Bettors won’t notice many changes beyond the physical space. William Hill, owned by Caesars, shares the same sportsbook menu.

A significant alteration is that gamblers can earn Caesars Rewards points when placing sports bets at Downtown Grand. Unlike other games at Downtown Grand, the sportsbook does not provide Grand Points.

Apart from adopting a new brand name, the sportsbook has also relocated within the casino. Its former location near the lobby is set to be repurposed in the future. The sportsbook is now situated in the previously high-limit slot machine room, located near the cashier and on the other side of the casino.

The new non-smoking Caesars Sportsbook houses four cocktail tables, each capable of seating four people. Additionally, a few leather chairs are positioned in front of a wall full of video screens for individual viewing.

The video wall has a sufficient size to display eight games simultaneously. Likely, there is enough room on both sides of the video wall to either display an additional four games or to accommodate larger screens.

Another four cocktail tables are located just outside the sportsbook, offering a great view of the five screens above the entrance to the new sportsbook.

In total, the sportsbook can accommodate fewer than 40 people both indoors and outdoors.

The Downtown Grand’s Caesars Sportsbook is open every day from 8 am to 9 pm. Wagers can be placed either with a person at the counter or at one of the two available kiosks.

A Caesars Rewards card must be presented by anyone wishing to place a pre-game wager of $2,000 or an in-play bet of $1,000 or more.

The Downtown Grand continues to renovate its casino floor. Soon, a new electronic table game pit will be situated adjacent to the current live dealer games.

FanDuel Sportsbook at Fremont Hotel and Casino

Boyd Gaming has recently finished an expansion of the Fremont Hotel and Casino, located near Downtown Grand at the Fremont Street Experience. The property’s expansion includes additional gaming space and a new food hall.

In addition to the newly branded FanDuel sportsbook, a host of new slot machines have been introduced. The freshly established food hall offers a variety of quick-serve dining options, including a fresh Dunkin Donuts outlet.

Regular patrons of the Fremont will recall that this is the sole Dunkin Donuts nestled within a downtown Las Vegas casino. This individual, hailing from the east coast, had to seize a cup of their favored beverage before departing.

The sportsbook at Fremont is divided into two sections. The first section features a bar with 12 multi-game machines, cocktail tables, chairs, and televisions for game viewing. The second section is dedicated solely to sports, complete with tables, a betting counter, and several kiosks.

The sportsbook, still managed by Boyd Gaming and offering the same odds as their other Las Vegas casinos, boasts 12 tables and can accommodate approximately 60 people.

Currently, FanDuel does not establish the odds for the Fremont sportsbook. It’s also important to remember that the FanDuel app is not functional in any part of Nevada.

Those who bet a minimum of $50 or possess a Boyd Rewards Emerald card or higher can reserve the cocktail tables.

Looking on the positive side, the bar is equipped with 16 beer taps and provides alcoholic slushy drinks to its gambling patrons. However, the downside is that the video poker machines have paytables akin to those on the Vegas Strip. According to vpFREE2, there are superior games to be found elsewhere within the casino.

Sportsbooks in downtown Las Vegas

These sportsbooks, despite their new brand names, still provide the same odds as their previous versions. There was an era when a single sportsbook operator managed the sportsbooks of several downtown Las Vegas casinos.

A variety of sportsbook brands can be found in downtown Las Vegas today, including:

  • The Cal – Boyd Gaming
  • Caesars – Downtown Grand
  • Circa Sports – The Circa, The D, Golden Gate
  • FanDuel – Fremont
  • Golden Nugget
  • El Cortez – Station Casinos
  • Binion’s, Four Queens, Plaza – William Hill

Although there are seven sportsbook brands within the casinos of downtown Las Vegas, only five of them provide various odds.

William Hill is owned by Caesars, and in Nevada, both sportsbook brands offer the same betting menu.

The brand change at the Fremont only pertains to FanDuel, as Boyd Gaming continues to manage the sportsbook, kiosk, and mobile sports betting app. The Boyd Sports app is available for online and mobile bettors. However, the FanDuel app is currently not operational in Nevada.

FanDuel currently runs sportsbooks at several Boyd Gaming casinos outside of Las Vegas, but this may change in the future.

Station Casinos runs the sportsbook inside El Cortez and is set to open a new sportsbook in February at the Wildfire Casino, which is presently being built east of the Fremont Street Experience.

The company’s flagship sportsbook is located in Circa. The sportsbooks inside The D and Golden Gate are regarded as satellite locations.
