Playing poker from different parts of the US is possible through the World Series Of Poker (WSOP) live and online events that are held nationwide. These events also offer the opportunity to participate in the major tournament in Las Vegas.
The WSOP Circuit events began shortly after the 2021 WSOP tournament in Las Vegas crowned its winner late last year. This year, the WSOP will be held on the Vegas Strip at Horseshoe Las Vegas, which is soon to be renamed and is currently known as Bally’s.
2022 Live circuit events
Last year, the Covid-19 pandemic caused a hiatus in the live WSOP Circuit events. Despite the ongoing presence of the virus, casinos and gamblers nationwide are progressing.
In October, when the series was initially announced, Ty Stewart, the Senior Vice President and Executive Director of the WSOP, expressed his excitement, saying, “It’s been too long, so it’s great to see the Circuit hitting the road once again.”
Finding a poker player who disagrees will be challenging. The initial series of live WSOP Circuit events kicked off in November at Harrah’s Cherokee in North Carolina. The events will be extended until March at the subsequent locations:
- Isle Casino Pompano Park in Florida from Feb. 3 to Feb. 14.
- Harrah’s Cherokee in North Carolina: February 17-28.
- Bicycle Casino in California: March 5-16
- March 17-March 28: Turning Stone Casino in New York will be the venue.
- From March 23 to April 4, the location will be Sonesta Maho Beach Resort and Casino in the Bahamas.
- April 7 to April 18 at Harrah’s Cherokee in North Carolina.
- Horseshoe Tunica in Mississippi is scheduled for April 21 to May 2.
The latest WSOP Circuit event at Thunder Valley Casino in Modesto, CA was won by Victor Paredes. He put in immense effort, navigating through a final table that lasted almost nine hours.
Live circuit events remain important
Stewart emphasized the significance of the Circuit events for WSOP, stating:
“The WSOP-C is one of our major initiatives that offers regional players the chance to play big-time poker and gives grinders an opportunity to make a living. We’re excited about the introduction of the new ‘Tournament of Champions’ format where all our winners will participate in a single event. All you have to do is win and you’re in!”
All winners of official gold rings from either the live or online circuit will be eligible for a trip to Las Vegas. These ring champions will be invited to compete in the exclusive “Tournament of Champions” event, scheduled for the 2022 WSOP in Las Vegas.
Generally, winners of the 2022 online or live bracelet will also qualify to participate in the new signature event.
Online circuit events
The inaugural online circuit event has commenced and is set to conclude on January 30. Players in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Nevada can participate in these online poker events.
The ongoing event boasts guaranteed prizes worth over $1 Million. The most valuable of these are 12 Gold Rings. Winners of these rings are given the opportunity to participate in the “Tournament of Champions” in Las Vegas.
WSOP to take place at the new Horseshoe Las Vegas
Additionally, Caesars declared last year that it would be relocating the WSOP to Bally’s and Paris. Interestingly, there was an unexpected occurrence on the journey to WSOP 2022.
Caesars has made the decision to rename Bally’s as Horseshoe Las Vegas. Consequently, the 2022 WSOP will be held at both Horseshoe and Paris.
The first WSOP likely didn’t coincidentally take place at Binion’s Horseshoe in downtown Las Vegas. This casino is now known as Binion’s. Regrettably, it currently doesn’t house a live poker room.
Beginning this spring, the casino is set to undergo an extensive facelift both inside and out. The interior of Horseshoe Las Vegas will be completely transformed, though the hotel rooms will remain untouched. Luckily, the renovations are expected to be completed by year’s end.
The first major event to take place at Horseshoe Las Vegas should be WSOP 2022.
