Sports Betting Handle Record Missed During December in Arizona, But New Revenue High Hit

The December revenue report of the Arizona Department of Gaming was published on Monday. Even though Arizona sports betting reached a record high through top sportsbooks, the total sports betting activities in Arizona failed to surpass the new handle record set in November.

The Arizona legal sports betting industry concluded a highly successful year with the December report, showing strong performance. In 2025, Arizona sports betting apps and retail providers collectively grossed an astounding $6.57 billion, and reported total revenues of $557.4 million.

FanDuel set a new record for single-provider revenue in December, thanks to a successful month. Although FanDuel’s annual win rate in the state was relatively low, it still had an impressive year in the Arizona market.

$693.3 million for December

In December, Arizona sportsbooks, known for their Arizona sportsbook promos, recorded $693.3 million in accepted sports bets. This amount is a minor 2.8% decrease from November’s record handle of $713.6 million. However, compared to the $572.5 million in December 2022, it’s a significant 21.1% increase year-over-year.

December marked the conclusion of an exceptional year for sports betting in Arizona. In 2025, the state’s top sports betting sites recorded a staggering $6.57 billion in bets. This represents an 8.9% increase from the slightly above $6 billion in bets taken in 2022.

Revenue record

Despite a slightly lower handle, Arizona sportsbooks achieved a monthly gross revenue record of $67.7 million in December, aided by a marginally higher hold rate than previous months.

The $67.7 million surpasses the $42.3 million sportsbook profits from November, and exceeds the previous revenue record of $60.1 million achieved in September. It is also $12 million higher than the revenue in December 2022.

Sportsbooks in Arizona ended 2025 on a high note, recording three of the highest revenue months ever in the final four months. For the year 2025, providers from Grand Canton State collectively brought in $557.4 million in revenues, largely through top-rated sports betting apps. This marks a 17.8% increase compared to revenues from 2022.

The state of Arizona saw a record high in tax collections from sports betting sites, driven by unprecedented revenue figures. In December, $4.8 million flowed into state and local tax funds, a result of the $48.3 million in adjusted gross revenue generated by state operators.

In 2025, Arizona sportsbooks contributed $34.8 million in taxes, marking an increase of just under $6 million from 2022. This brings the total lifetime tax revenue from Arizona’s sports betting industry to $69.6 million.

FanDuel rakes in the profits

In December, FanDuel maintained its position as the top sports betting site in Arizona. The company broke its own monthly revenue record by bringing in $29.1 million, surpassing its previous record of $25.1 million set in November 2022.

In terms of profits, DraftKings came in second, recording just over $20 million in revenues in December. This was the third instance within four months that the company surpassed the $20-million mark. BetMGM ranked third in both handle and revenues, generating $8.7 million in revenues in December.

In the Grand Canyon State market during December, Caesars came in fourth, while ESPN BETÂ was a somewhat disappointing fifth.
