The Palms Casino Resort has now reopened under new ownership.
And officially resumed business operations.
Following months of speculation about the reopening of Palms by Station Casinos, the company opted to sell the property instead. Almost a year ago, the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians (San Manuel) acquired Palms from Station Casinos.
San Manuel is the premier Las Vegas casino to be owned and operated by an American Indian tribe. Although Mohegan Sun runs the casino at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, they do not hold ownership of the property.
Before the property was opened to the public, a traditional tribal ceremony took place. The “Celebration of Community” then carried on from day to night.
COVID-19 has caused The Palms to be closed since 2020.
“Palms is a unique property in Las Vegas that has the rare chance to make a grand reintroduction,” stated General Manager Cynthia Kiser Murphey. “We take pride in the fact that over 50% of our team members are returning employees. We strongly believe this new chapter in the history of Palms will be marked by the creation of new and enduring memories.”
Opening night celebration
Early access to the casino and restaurants at Palms was granted to VIPs and media. The event was a visual feast, teeming with various characters who roamed around the property, showcasing different sections of the casino.
Guests arriving early were indulged with “A Taste of Palms.” Returning players, VIPs, and media members had the opportunity to savor small bites from a variety of restaurants at Palms.
Favorite restaurants from the 2019 $690 million renovation of Station Casinos have made a comeback. These include the Scotch 80 Prime steakhouse, Mabel’s BBQ, and Tim Ho Wan, all of which are currently open and serving delicious food.
Buffet enthusiasts will be delighted to learn that A.Y.C.E. (All You Can Eat) is not only open for breakfast and dinner but also for weekend brunch. The buffet showcases seven food stations, each inspired by cuisine from different parts of the world.
The grand re-opening of Palms also marked the introduction of a San Manuel staple, the Serrano Vista Cafe. This easy-going dining restaurant provides the essential offerings of a casino cafe that numerous guests rely on to either kick-start their day or wrap up their night. The Serrano Vista Cafe operates 24 hours during the weekend and commences early on weekdays.
The grand reopening on Wednesday night also marked the first time guests were able to view the new William Hill sportsbook. The area has been redesigned to include more comfortable seating and improved lighting.
A stage has been set up between the Tonic sports bar and the sportsbook for bands to perform. The performances will be scheduled mostly on weekend nights as most game activities are concluding.
The Palms casino officially welcomed the public at 9 p.m. on Wednesday night. Soon after the reopening of the casino, guests went outside to enjoy a fireworks display, concluding the opening night festivities.
Palms Hotel opened Thursday
The casino opened on Wednesday night, while the hotel at Palms was open to the public the following Thursday.
In December, San Manuel received approval to run Palms. The tribe acted swiftly to tidy up the property and ensure it was ready for the NFL Draft and pool season. Kiser Murphey, the General Manager, stated:
Our team has exerted tremendous effort to arrive at this moment, and the reintroduction of Palms to Las Vegas is a significant achievement. The anticipation and overwhelming support for the reopening of Palms have been extraordinary. This property is genuinely special, and we count it as an honor to oversee its revival in the city. Our aim is to provide an unparalleled experience that instills a sense of home for everyone visiting Las Vegas.
Guests at the hotel can take pleasure in the extensive resort pool area, initially designed by Station Casinos. The multi-level pool complex, which spans 73,000 square feet, boasts two main pools and 39 cabanas. The majority of these cabanas come equipped with their own pool.
The pool is free of charge for guests staying at the Palms hotel. Those not lodging at the hotel have the option to pay for a cabana reservation, granting them access to the stunning pool complex at Palms.
