Palms Casino Resort opening dates

The opening of Palms Casino Resort is scheduled for April 27.

Guests can eat, drink, and gamble on the opening night, but the hotel at Palms will start taking reservations from the following night, April 28.

The popular off-strip casino is reopening more than two years after being shut down by Station Casinos in March 2020. In a bid to curb the spread of COVID-19, the property was closed and never resumed operations under Station Casinos.

The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, who operate the Yaamava Casino in California, purchased the Palms casino following its closure in 2020. This acquisition marks San Manuel’s first venture into the Las Vegas casino market.

“April 27, 2022, is a significant date for Palms, Las Vegas, and the San Manuel Gaming and Hospitality Authority,” states Cynthia Kiser Murphey, the General Manager for Palms Casino Resort.

“We are excited to once again welcome guests to this magnificent resort. Our entire Palms team eagerly anticipates creating a vibrant and enjoyable atmosphere throughout the property.”

Once Palms reopens, it will largely resemble the property guests recall before it closed. Station Casinos invested $690 million in renovations after buying the property in 2016.

April 28, whether by coincidence or not, is also the first night of the NFL Draft.

What to expect at Palms

The existing version of Palms has only been available to guests for less than a year. Therefore, there isn’t much that needs updating for the new operators.

The casino floor will largely resemble the previous version of Palms. The significant modification will be made to the sportsbook.

The new managers of Palms are not revealing much about the changes. However, it has been publicly announced that William Hill is set to continue running the Palms sportsbook, with approval expected soon.

Many of the modifications at Palms may not be noticeable to visitors as a lot of upgrades are targeted towards the back-of-house for employees. Some of the other changes will mainly aim to bring the property up to par with the 2022 standards.

The rooms and suites at Palms will retain their original charm and style from when the property closed. Palms will continue to offer a diverse selection of traditional and themed suites, villas, and standard hotel rooms to accommodate most visitors.

Scotch 80 Prime, Tim Ho Wan, and Mabel’s BBQ by Chef Michael Symon, all standout restaurants from the Station Casinos era, will be making a return to Palms.

Palms has also declared the return of Send Noodles and the replacement of Lucky Penny Cafe from the Station Casinos era with Serrano Vista Cafe.

The new Palms will include the Unknown Bar, also known as “Shark Bar”, and the Ghost Bar. Additional bars and restaurants will be revealed as the opening date nears.

New owners, similar operations

Ever since Palms opened, the property has always served the local community.

Indeed, Rain Nightclub was a celebrity magnet for a period, particularly when Britney Spears used to perform there. Nonetheless, the “locals entrance” near the parking garage ensured that Las Vegas residents could bypass the club’s party ambiance.

Station Casinos reportedly saw Palms as a means to close the gap between its local properties and tourists wanting proximity to the Vegas Strip, according to anecdotal evidence. The new operators are also open to everyone, particularly visitors from California. The property will maintain the local flavor that Palms has always provided.

Murphey states, “Our objective is straightforward – to provide an experience that is uniquely distinct and makes you feel at home, whether you are a local or a guest visiting from anywhere in the world, while you are in Las Vegas.” Other representatives from Palms have reiterated this sentiment since they bought the property.

Palms will also promote to its database of potential regional visitors from its Southern California property, Yaamava’ Resort & Casino at San Manuel, according to what Murphey told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The tribe’s culture is rooted in generating opportunities and upholding what’s beneficial for future generations while respecting past generations. This fosters a long-term perspective, and the tribal members exemplify an exquisite blend of talent, thoughtfulness, success, and humility.

Latisha Casas from San Manuel Gaming and Hospitality Authority stated, “We are excited to expose our guests to our deep-rooted history, culture, and distinguished hospitality. We are eager to create history together.”

No more KAOS at Palms

The Palms will be functioning under a new plan that utilizes a similar property layout. The new operators have no intentions of reviving the unsuccessful nightclub, KAOS.

The nightclub shut down due to the continuous loss of money spent on high-priced talent that failed to increase revenue. When Palms reopens, both KAOS and the pool area will be utilized for different purposes.

Guests at the Palms will have the pleasure of utilizing a multi-tiered, 73,000-square-foot space complete with two main pools and 39 exclusive cabanas. The pool area is also equipped with oversized daybeds and an abundance of poolside lounge chairs.
