In 2021, Resorts World Las Vegas became the only casino on the Vegas Strip to provide cashless payments across its entire property. This year, with the assistance of its financial technology partner, Sightline, the property has introduced an even more convenient method for customers to go cashless.
The revised version of the Resorts World Las Vegas Mobile+ app enhances its original version. The app includes:
- Remote identity verification
- Loyalty and payments enrollment
- Biometric authentication
- Single digital wallet
The co-CEO of Sightline, Omer Sattar, stated:
“We commend Resorts World Las Vegas for their progressive approach, for their diligent efforts in crafting the optimal user experience, and for propelling the entire industry forward.”
Nonetheless, there is one specific feature that Nevada sports bettors have been longing for. While in most parts of the US, sports betting apps provide a simple method to register for a sports betting account without the need to first visit a casino, this is not yet a possibility in Nevada.
Despite the continued exclusion of Nevada sports bettors from online registration, players of table games and slots can take advantage of remote account setup at Resorts World Vegas.
Sign in to your casino account with Resorts app
Players are now able to pre-load their gambling accounts before visiting Resorts World. They can fund the account from any location and then proceed to enjoy the slot machines and table games.
Guests at Resorts World previously had to fund their accounts in person at the casino. This in-person requirement is no longer necessary.
Meanwhile, in Nevada, sports bettors are still required to go through the outdated in-person registration process to open a mobile betting account.
Sattar recognizes the significance of establishing remote accounts in Nevada, he expressed:
Innovative technology evolves over time, and this second generation enhances the accessibility and overall experience of cashless gaming for users. We eagerly anticipate collaborating with Resorts World Las Vegas on future advancements.
The newly-released Resorts World app, also known as RWLV in some app stores, enables users to add funds to a new or existing mobile casino account without physically going to a casino. However, the remote account setup is only applicable for expenditures outside the sportsbook.
An easier, faster cashless casino experience
The previous version of the Resorts World app necessitated a two-step process to deposit funds and play without using physical cash.
Earlier, users were required to transfer their Play+ account funds to their wagering account. Once this was done, they were able to move funds to a slot machine or table game.
The customer previously had to manually transfer funds back to their Play+ account in order to utilize the cashless service at other locations within Resorts World. However, this process now happens automatically in the background, eliminating the need for the guest to perform these additional steps.
The senior vice president of casino operators at Resorts World, Rick Hutchins, stated:
Today, we’ve significantly reduced the time and inconvenience for guests wishing to utilize cashless gaming and join Genting Rewards during their visit to our resort. I’m excited that we’re leading in streamlining this process for our guests, providing them with more time to concentrate on their main purpose of being here: to have fun.
Aside from eliminating a step, guests at Resorts World can now go cashless without having to wait. During the opening weekend, the service required over an hour of waiting time. Prior to this app update, there could have been a delay in opening a cashless gaming account during peak weekends.
This convenience comes at a cost. Resorts World imposes a fee of 2.95% on the total transaction. This means, for instance, a user will be charged $2.95 for each $100 they deposit into an account.
Sorry, Nevada sports betting app users
Anyone who wants to open a Nevada sports betting app account, including the Resorts World sports betting app, must visit a sportsbook inside a casino.
Although the non-sports app currently provides numerous services, it remains unconnected to the Resorts World sports betting app.
Establishing a mobile sports betting account in Nevada isn’t overly time-consuming, but it’s not as straightforward as simply opening the app, depositing funds, and starting to play.
To open a new sports betting account in Nevada, one typically starts by downloading the app and filling in some personal details. However, before they can legally place a sports bet on a mobile app, all new users are required to show their ID to an employee at a comprehensive sportsbook within a casino.
After an account has been created, a player can deposit money into the sportsbook for free. Once the account has been established and initially funded, a user can add funds directly via the app. Similar to the cashless system of Resorts World, the sportsbook might attach a fee for funding through mobile.
The entire process inside the casino takes roughly 10 minutes. While signing up isn’t challenging, it’s slightly more complex compared to other states where sports betting is legal. In most parts of the country, people are free to establish a mobile sports betting account wherever they prefer.
This sign-up requirement implies that Nevada sports betting apps function on distinct platforms from the rest of the country. Consequently, apps from the same company are not interoperable.
Even if a person uses any of the following apps outside Nevada, they are still required to download the Nevada version of the app and register for a new account:
- BetMGM
- Caesars
- Circa
- (Westgate) SuperBook
- William Hill
- Wynn
Betting on mobile devices for tourists isn’t as challenging as it is irritating and time-consuming.
More cashless casino gaming in Nevada
Station Casinos launched cashless gaming in October, requiring a second app unlike the cashless gaming at Resorts World.
The STN Cash app is connected to Station Casinos’ Boarding Pass rewards program. Unlike the other Station Casinos app, though, it does not provide non-gaming services like hotel and restaurant information.
In contrast to the new Resorts World Las Vegas Mobile+ app, where players can open their accounts remotely, Station Casinos requires players to physically visit the casino cage at one of their properties to open their accounts. Furthermore, the cashless gaming option at Station Casinos properties is limited to machine games such as slots, video poker, keno, and electronic table games.
Station Casinos employs the identical Sightline technology as Resorts World. A spokesperson from Sightline informed PlayNevada that an upgrade to the cashless system of Station Casinos is planned for the future. The timeline for this upgrade is yet to be determined.
The same cashless system is also employed by Boyd Gaming’s Aliante and they should expect to see the new technology in the future.
