Station Casinos Trying To Cut Down On All Those Cards In Your Wallet

[toc]The process of earning customer loyalty rewards at Station Casinos properties is about to become much easier. The Nevada-based casino firm is preparing to launch Cardless Connect, a new technology from IGT.

What is Cardless Connect?

The Cardless Connect program is designed to make your physical player rewards card obsolete. Rather than needing to keep your Station Boarding Pass card on hand, your phone can monitor your play. This could be extremely advantageous, especially if you often forget or do not wish to carry a wallet filled with cards.

Hence, it is logical that a brand, which depends on local customers with loyalty cards from almost a dozen casino companies, would be the first to trial the product. Station Casinos, owning 19 distinct gaming properties in the Las Vegas region, is such a brand.

Cardless Connect operates via the Stations mobile app, which is downloadable from the App Store for iPhone users and the Google Play Store for Android users. By inputting their Boarding Pass data, players can easily log in and officially go cardless in just a few steps.

In an official press release, Staci Alonso, the EVP and Chief Marketing & Innovation Officer of Station Casinos, gave her remarks on the launch.

“We are dedicated to consistently providing new advantages to our My Rewards Boarding Pass members, both new and existing, that offer value and convenience. The Cardless Connect technology by IGT significantly enhances the STN mobile app. It enables guests to use their phones for carding in at their preferred slot game, offering a digital experience if they so desire.”

At present, Barley’s Casino and Brewing Company in Henderson is the sole property that has Cardless Connect. The aim, once the pilot program concludes, is to broaden its reach to all properties.

How to sign up for Cardless Connect

The procedure to activate Cardless Connect is slightly more complex than simply turning it on and off.

According to the Station Casinos blog, there are several necessary requirements.

  • A smartphone equipped with the most recent edition of the STN app
  • Bluetooth capabilities enabled
  • A Boarding Pass account
  • Connection to the Guest WiFi of the Station Casinos property you are currently visiting

After checking off all those items, there are still several more steps to complete before you’re ready to proceed.

Firstly, launch the app and choose the casino you will be playing at for this session. Input your username and password to log in. Following this, a blue icon labeled “Connecting” will become visible.

Once the icon appears, place your phone screen near the part of the machine with a Boarding Pass card icon. Your phone will show a green “Connected” icon when the two devices are synchronized. Remember to disconnect from the machine once you finish playing.

The trial at Barley’s should assist in smoothing out any issues. If this becomes successful and other establishments adopt the same approach, it could prevent local wallets from becoming too thin, not due to a lack of money, but because people can finally reduce the numerous membership cards they have for every loyalty program.
