[toc]The complete schedule for the 2017 World Series of Poker (WSOP) is out. The biggest poker event of the year will be offering 74 bracelet events from May 30 – July 17.
There are a number of popular returning events on the schedule as well as several new additions. Earlier this month, the WSOP revealed the weekend dates for the marquee events like the Main Event, Millionaire Maker and Colossus. Now the full schedule is up and players can get planning for the summer.
One important thing to consider when planning for the WSOP?
This year the Rio will be accepting buy-ins via credit card for up to $10,000. This is another first for the series, which now offers credit cards, casino chips, money wire, and cash as options to pay for tournament entries.

2017 WSOP to feature three online bracelets
In 2015 the WSOP introduced the first-ever online poker bracelet event. The tournament was a $1,000 buy-in No Limit Hold’em event which played down to the final six on WSOP.com before stopping play and resuming live at the Rio to play down to a winner.
The series repeated the format last year as well. The first event drew 905 players. Last year, that number surged to 1,247.
This year the $1,000 event is back and is joined by a $3,333 High Roller tournament and the lowest buy-in of the post-Moneymaker WSOP era, a $333 buy-in event.
The smaller buy-in tournament will have a $333,333 guarantee and run on June 3. It will feature unlimited re-entries. The High Roller tournament is scheduled for July 1 and will feature unlimited rebuys.
The $1,000 event is the last one on the schedule. It will run on July 7 and feature unlimited re-entries.
Unlike previous years, all of the events are currently scheduled to run in a single day and play out entirely on WSOP.com.
$365 “The Giant” tournament will run all summer
The online tournament is not the only historically low price point for the WSOP. The new “The Giant” tournament is a $365 buy-in event, trumping Colossus as the lowest buy-in live event on the schedule.
Every Friday from June 9 through July 7, there will be a new flight in the tournament running at 7 p.m. PT. Players will have unlimited re-entry during each flight.
Survivors from the five flights will combine on July 8 to play as one field down to a bracelet winner.
Other new tournaments include $10K Tag Team and a “Marathon” event
There are a number of other new events on the schedule. Some of the most notable are the following:
$10,000 Tag Team Hold’em
After offering a low buy-in Tag Team event last year won by Doug Polk and Ryan Fee, the WSOP is expanding the format with a high buy-in tournament.
If you’re unfamiliar with Tag Team Hold’em, the WSOP rules stipulate teams of 2-4 people can tag in and out of the action. Everyone on the team is required to play at least one full orbit of action.
The $10,000 Tag Team event will open the summer action (excluding the Employees Event) on May 31.
$2,620 Marathon event
Standard levels in non-Main Event WSOP tournaments last one hour. The Marathon offers 100-minute levels and ten times the starting stack, compared to the standard 5x stack multiplier.
Think of this event as a higher buy-in “Monster Stack” event. This tournament will run on June 12.
$1,000 super turbo event
The influence of online poker does not just extend to online bracelet events. The Super Turbo format with 20-minute levels is now a bracelet event that will run on June 20.
$2,500 mixed big bet event
The smaller buy-in 10-game, 8-game, Dealer’s Choice, and H.O.R.S.E. events have proven over the years that there is a market for low buy-in mixed games.
The rise in popularity for draw games did not go unnoticed by the WSOP. Now this event will offer a rotation of no limit hold’em, PLO, no limit 2-7, no limit 5 Card Draw, Big O, PLO Hi-Lo, and 2-7 pot-limit triple draw.
The 2017 WSOP is just over four months away, but players can already start preparing. Online qualifiers for events begin next month on WSOP.com.
