The third annual World Series Of Poker (WSOP) Online will be held in the US from September 10 to October 18, 2022.
The digital event comes after the inaugural WSOP tournament held on the Vegas Strip, which was staged at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas.
The WSOP Main Event had the second highest number of participants ever, with 8,662 players. Espen Jorstad of Norway emerged as the winner of the Main Event. His reward for his efforts included a sum of $10 million and a luxurious bracelet.
This year, the WSOP in Las Vegas saw a total of 197,626 participants. Jorstad and the other players collectively won $347.9 million in prize money.
“Everyone was reluctant to see this year’s WSOP conclude,” stated Ty Stewart, Senior Vice President and Executive Director of the World Series of Poker. He further added:
“However, the comeback of WSOP Online is inherently more thrilling in many aspects. In collaboration with GGPoker, our shared vision is to annually establish this festival as the most significant event in online poker. This will ensure that WSOP provides players with the premier event in both live and online poker each year.”
Each bracelet winner from the 2022 WSOP Online will secure a spot in the Tournament of Champions at the 2025 WSOP in Las Vegas.
WSOP.com is welcoming players from new states
For the first time, WSOP is inviting online poker players from Michigan and Pennsylvania. These players will become part of the WSOP online community, joining fellow players from Nevada, New Jersey, and Delaware.
All 32 events are open to players in Nevada. However, the number of events offered varies from state to state.
Players from Michigan and Pennsylvania are limited to participating in six WSOP Online tournaments this year. A comprehensive list of events that can be sorted by state is available here.
The player pools for the six events that include players from Michigan and Pennsylvania should be larger than others due to the population size of these two states. This could potentially make these events more challenging for players from Nevada to win.

Looking ahead to the live tournaments in Las Vegas
A number of WSOP Online 2022 poker tournaments are slated to coincide with a series of significant live tournaments in Las Vegas this autumn. Individuals outside Nevada are permitted to partake in both the live and online events when they are in the Silver State.
Announcements will soon be made regarding details on the WSOP events later in 2022.
Plans are in place for WSOP to make a comeback to the Vegas Strip in 2025. It’s anticipated that by the time WSOP starts next year, the renovations and rebranding of Bally’s into Horseshoe Las Vegas will have been finalized.
An announcement regarding plans for the poker event at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas should be expected by the end of this year or early next year.
