The 2015 Global Gaming Expo (G2E) kicks off on Tuesday from the Sands Expo and Conventions Center in Las Vegas. It is the premier show for the gambling industry featuring gaming executives, tribal leaders, corporate management and other relevant professionals from around the global gaming industry.
The G2E made its debut in 2001 and is put on annually by the American Gaming Association (AGA) and Reed Exhibitions. Attendees will be treated to a full array of products and services from around the gaming industry, including iGaming.
Today we take a quick look at what is on tap for the 2015 G2E.
2015 iGaming Congress Kicks off on Monday
While the conference officially kicks off on Tuesday, seminars will begin on Monday and that includes the 2015 iGaming Congress. The iGaming Congress addresses issues and products as related to iGaming on a local, national and international scale.
Below are a few of the seminars slated for Monday:
- 9 AM – 10 AM: The Legal Side of iGaming: Consequences, Opportunities and Concerns – Gaming Compliance’s Kevin Cochran leads a panel discussing the evolution of iGaming in the U.S. and around the world.
- 1:15 PM – 2:15 PM: New Research on Internet Gambling – This seminar will review findings by Dr. Heather Gray regarding the effects of Iceland’s internet lottery on the public health of citizens.
- 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM: Lessons Learned: Late iGaming Adopters Leg Up – Representatives from the Golden Nugget and iGaming Capital discuss the advantages of coming into iGaming after the initial launched, aka the Second Wave.
These are just some of the seminars that will be available. While there will be iGaming seminars throughout G2E, Monday will be one of the days that it’s highlighted the most.
What Else to Expect During G2E
According to the G2E website, there are 88 separate seminars scheduled to take place over the four-day event. In addition to the iGaming Congress on Monday, attendees can take part in the G2E Intensive Educational Programs that cover the following:
- Tribal Gaming
- Security & Surveillance
- Compliance, Law & Regulation Institute an IMGL Masterclass
- Global Gaming Women
Starting on Tuesday and continuing through Thursday, attendees can take part in seminars, executive roundtable discussions and other sessions on topics that include:
- Sports betting
- Millennial customers
- Internet gaming
- Skill based gaming
- Integrated resorts & hotel technology
- And many more
iGaming Will Receive Adequate Focus
Monday will not be the only day that iGaming topics will be discussed. As expected, there will be numerous iGaming companies and providers exhibiting throughout the conference. A few of those companies include IGT, Betrader, Scientific Games, Spin Games, Aristocrat, Everi, NYX Gaming Group, Gaming Intelligence and Spectrum Gaming Group.
In terms of seminars, there are several on Tuesday worth checking out. A pair of 10:30AM seminars will explore the future of grey market areas and regulation in regards to sports betting and DFS in the United States. A 2 PM seminar will explore the potential business opportunities presented by DFS and sports betting,
The only iGaming session on Wednesday could be one of the most interesting of the conference as it deals with the Tribal view of online gambling. Members of the Cherokee Nation, Pechanga, San Manuel Band of Mission Indians and the Comanche Nation are all expected to speak on this panel. This should prove both informative and entertaining.
While we don’t expect anything monumental to be revealed at G2E, it will be interesting to see if the attitudes towards iGaming have changed from some opponents and whether we can expect any movement in regards to regulation in 2016.
