Golden Knights Odds As Western Conference Series With Dallas Stars Tied 1-1

The NHL’s Western Conference Finals got off to a rough start for the Vegas Golden Knights over the long weekend. The team was shut out and beat up by the Dallas Stars while fan-favorite Ryan Reaves didn’t play in the first game.

The second game of the series would be pivotal. A tied series moves forward differently than a two-game deficit.

While the goal was beautiful, the star of the game might have been goalie Robin Lehner.

He had a 24-save shutout that not only gave the Golden Knights a win, but also gave the fans a free dozen doughnuts for the fourth time since play started in the bubble.

Lehner is quickly becoming one of the most popular Golden Knights thanks to his four playoff shutouts.

Vegas’s odds going forward

The Vegas Golden Knights are now -230 favorites to win the Western Conference Finals at BetMGM Sportsbook.

Meanwhile, the Stars are +190 underdogs to win the series. Nevada’s home team is a -165 favorite for Game 3 in the series versus the Stars, who are +145 underdogs.

Prior to the game last night, one bettor placed a rather large $50,000 wager with BetMGM that the Golden Knights will win the Stanley Cup. If Vegas brings the cup to the desert, the bettor will win $125,000 on the wager and take home a total of $175,000 on the +250 bet.

Currently, the Vegas Golden Knights’ futures odds to win the NHL championship are down to +165 at BetMGM. For comparison, the Dallas Stars are +600 to win the championship.

The Tampa Bay Lightning are now +110 favorites at BetMGM to take home the Stanley Cup.

Last night, Rampart Casino Race and Sports Director Duane Colucci told NBC Sports the following about a potential final with the Golden Knights versus the Lightning:

“Before the conference finals, it was really close. Obviously, because we’re in Vegas, you’ve got to look at a -120, -125 series line on the Knights. If you’re on the east coast, you’re looking at a swing on Tampa being maybe -120. The Knights looked really tough up until this last stretch of games. It’s a close series… unless we see Tampa beat the Islanders 8-2 every game.”

Before playing the Lightning or New York Islanders for the Stanley Cup, the Golden Knights still have to defeat the Dallas Stars.

Game 3 in the series takes place tomorrow, Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 5 p.m. local time.
