The Palms Casino Resort has now reopened under new management.
Officially, it has reopened for business.
Months of speculation on whether Station Casinos would reopen Palms ended when the company decided to sell the property. It was purchased by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians (San Manuel) from Station Casinos nearly a year ago.
San Manuel is the inaugural Las Vegas casino to be both owned and managed by an American Indian tribe. While Mohegan Sun runs the casino at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, it doesn’t hold ownership of the property.
Before the property was opened to the public, a traditional tribal ceremony took place. The “Celebration of Community” persisted all day and into the night.
The Palms has remained shut since 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Palms is a unique property in Las Vegas that has had the rare chance to make a grand reintroduction,” said General Manager Cynthia Kiser Murphey. “We take pride in the fact that over half of our team members at Palms are returning employees. We are optimistic that this new chapter in the history of Palms will be marked with the creation of new and enduring memories.”
Opening night celebration
Early access to explore the casino and restaurants at Palms was granted to VIPs and media. The event was a visual feast, featuring an array of characters throughout the property to showcase various sections of the casino.
Guests who arrived early were indulged with “A Taste of Palms.” Returning players, VIPs and media got the chance to sample small bites from various restaurants at Palms.
Some favorite eateries from the Station Casinos’ $690 million 2019 refurbishment have made a comeback. Scotch 80 Prime steakhouse, Mabel’s BBQ, and Tim Ho Wan are all back in business, serving delicious food.
Buffet enthusiasts will be pleased to learn that A.Y.C.E. (All You Can Eat) is open for breakfast, dinner, and weekend brunch. The buffet includes seven food stations offering a selection of global cuisine.
The Serrano Vista Cafe, a staple of San Manuel, made its debut at the grand re-opening of Palms. This casual dining restaurant serves the essential dishes that casino guests often enjoy to kickstart their day or wind down their night. The cafe is open 24 hours during the weekend and starts its business early on weekdays.
The grand reopening on Wednesday night also marked the first opportunity for guests to view the new William Hill sportsbook. The area has been redesigned to offer more comfortable seating and improved lighting.
A stage has been set up for bands to perform between the Tonic sports bar and the sportsbook. The performances are scheduled for weekend nights, usually as most of the game action is coming to an end.
The Palms Casino officially welcomed the public at 9 p.m. on Wednesday night. After the casino reopened, guests ventured outside to enjoy a fireworks display that concluded the opening night festivities.
Palms Hotel opened Thursday
The casino opened on Wednesday night while the hotel at Palms opened to the public on Thursday.
In December, San Manuel received the approval to run Palms. They swiftly proceeded with the property cleanup to ensure its readiness for the NFL Draft and pool season. The General Manager, Kiser Murphey, stated:
The journey to this day has required immense effort from our team, and we are immensely proud to reintroduce Palms to Las Vegas. The enthusiasm and overwhelming support for Palms’ reopening has been nothing short of incredible. We cherish this unique property and consider it an honor to be entrusted with its comeback to the city. We aim to provide a unique experience that gives everyone a sense of belonging while they are in Las Vegas.
Guests at the hotel will have the pleasure of using the expansive resort pool area, initially designed by Station Casinos. The pool complex is a multi-level facility spanning 73,000 square feet and includes two main pools as well as 39 cabanas. The majority of these cabanas come with their own private pool.
Access to the pool is free for guests staying at the Palms hotel. Individuals not lodging at the hotel have the option to pay for a cabana reservation, granting them entry to the exquisite pool complex at Palms.
