[toc]In an unprecedented move, sports enthusiasts in Nevada now have the opportunity to place bets on the forthcoming NFL draft at various sports books across the state.
The Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) gave approval to an anonymous Nevada sports book earlier this month to accept bets on the draft. This decision permitted all sports books in the state and Nevada sports betting apps to provide prop bets on the NFL draft.

No, it’s not possible to place a bet on who the Cleveland Browns will select with their first overall pick this year. However, you can certainly wager on various propositions, which include:
- The overall count of quarterbacks, wide receivers, or running backs selected in the first round, or a prediction regarding the same.
- Will more offensive or defensive players be selected in the first round?
- When the first kicker will take their turn
- The total count of players chosen from a specific college or conference in the first round or in general.
- The predicted number of players chosen from a specific college or conference in the first round, either over or under.
- Which college or conference is likely to have a higher number of players selected in the first round, or in general?
- Will more players be drafted from a specific college or conference than another, either in the first round or the entire draft?
The NGCB intends to prevent betting from impacting the results of the draft. As a result, sports books will stop accepting wagers for the NFL Draft after business hours on April 26, 2017. This is the eve of the Draft’s commencement.
The NFL draft, set to take place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is scheduled to start on April 27 and end on April 29.
NFL draft: Gonna Fly Now
For the first time ever, the draft will be conducted outdoors this year. The event is set to occur in an outdoor theater constructed on the renowned Rocky Steps. These iconic stone steps, located at the entrance of the Philadelphia Museum of Art at Eakins Oval, gained their name from their appearance in the Oscar-winning film, Rocky, and its subsequent sequels.
Each year, hundreds of thousands of tourists relive the iconic scene where Rocky ascends the steps to the tune of ‘Gonna Fly Now’. This act of climbing the steps has evolved into a representation of the struggle faced by underdogs from every aspect of life.
The NFL draft this year will be the 82nd of the league and will comprise of 253 selections over seven rounds.
The NFL draft was hosted by the Auditorium Theater at Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois last April.
Out of the 253 chosen players, only one was a placekicker. The selected players included 33 wide receivers, 20 running backs, and 15 quarterbacks. The Los Angeles Rams made quarterback Jared Goff from California their first overall pick.
Off-the-field wagers increasing
Over the past few years, there has been an increase in the number of off-the-field bets made at Nevada sports books.
The NGCB has allowed sports books to accept wagers on the winner of the Heisman Trophy, as well as the MVP, Cy Young, Rookie of the Year, and Manager of the Year awards from Major League Baseball. Betting on the NFL’s Super Bowl MVP and the NHL’s Conn Smythe Trophy for the most valuable player has also been approved.
