The Nevada Gaming Control Board recently recommended William Hill to operate sportsbooks across the state of Nevada. On January 9th, the international sportsbook operator was endorsed to run sportsbooks at the following casinos:
- Laughlin (Aquarius)
- Decatur Arizona Charlie’s (Las Vegas)
- Boulder’s Arizona Charlie’s (Las Vegas)
- Reno’s Eldorado
- Nugget by Jerry (Las Vegas)
- Reno’s Montbleau
- Las Vegas Stratosphere
William Hill runs over 100 sportsbooks across Nevada. The majority of their newest additions to their sportsbook lineup were anticipated. They secured a contract last year to operate sportsbooks for Golden Entertainment.
Golden Entertainment owns Aquarius, both Arizona Charlie’s, and the Stratosphere. Additionally, William Hill already operates sports wagering kiosks in about 80 Golden Entertainment pubs and taverns statewide, including all PT’s Pub locations, in addition to casino sportsbooks.
William Hill has signed a contract to manage the sportsbooks of Eldorado Resorts across the US. Eldorado Resorts casinos own both Montbleau and Eldorado in Reno. William Hill is already in charge of the sportsbooks at Circus Circus, Silverado, and Tropicana Laughlin casinos.
Jerry’s Nugget is the unexpected casino among the slew of approvals.
William Hill is taking over independent sportsbooks
When William Hill assumes control of sportsbook operations at Jerry’s Nugget in Las Vegas, the count of independent sportsbook operators will decrease by one. The agreement with Golden Entertainment will further reduce the number of independently run sportsbooks on the Vegas Strip by one third.
The Stratosphere was among the three independent sportsbook operators on the Vegas Strip. However, after its acquisition by William Hill, only Wynn (and Encore) and Treasure Island will remain as independent sportsbook operators on the Vegas Strip.
Finding varying odds and betting opportunities is becoming increasingly challenging for sports gamblers. Two companies run the majority of sportsbooks on the Vegas Strip. These companies, MGM Resorts and Caesars Entertainment, operate sportsbooks in 17 out of 26 casinos.
Currently, William Hill runs 7 out of 11 casinos in downtown Las Vegas. However, this number will reduce once the Stevens Group starts its operations later this year.
Boyd Gaming runs sportsbooks in 10 casinos around Las Vegas, whereas Station Casinos manages 18 properties in Las Vegas, such as Fiesta and Wildfire.
Remaining independent sportsbooks in Las Vegas
Despite the consolidation leading to the formation of large sportsbook businesses, several independent sportsbook operators still exist in Las Vegas. Therefore, sports bettors in Las Vegas still have the chance to experience unique betting opportunities at these casinos.
William Hill is expanding across America, not just Nevada
William Hill, a European bookmaker, extended its operations to the US through the acquisition of Lucky’s, Leroy’s, and Cal-Neva. They currently manage over 100 sportsbooks of various sizes and operate a mobile wagering app particularly in Nevada. Yet, their expansion in Nevada was merely the initial step.
Recently, they have begun establishing contracts with casino operators and racetracks to manage sportsbooks in various states where sports betting is becoming legal. At present, William Hill operates sportsbooks in states beyond Nevada, including:
- Deleware
- Mississippi remains the same as it is a proper noun (name of a US state).
- Jersey New
- Pennsylvania
- Island of Rhode
- Virginia West
William Hill stands as the sole sportsbook operator to function in each state that permits legal sports betting. The collaborations with Eldorado and Golden Entertainment mark the start of William Hill’s widespread expansion throughout the US.
