[toc]In Nevada, you can place bets on the NHL’s newest team, the Vegas Golden Knights, no matter your location.

You can place a bet on the Golden Knights at any sportsbook in Nevada. In fact, you can bet on the Golden Knights anywhere within the boundaries of Nevada state.

Bettors are able to place wagers from home, hotel rooms, or even while hiking, thanks to mobile sports wagering apps. Dedicated fans can even bet on hockey games directly from T-Mobile Arena. The majority of these apps provide in-play or in-game betting options for all Golden Knights games.

The ability for gamblers to place bets on Vegas Golden Knights games in Nevada wasn’t always a sure thing. Prior to the start of the NHL season, both Bill Foley, the owner of the Golden Knights, and NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, were preoccupied with matters unrelated to gambling.

As the season was nearing, Bettman informed Bloomberg that he would simply request MGM Chairman Jim Murren to exclude home games from casinos near the arena, such as the Monte Carlo and New York, New York. However, it seems that Bettman never made that request to Murren.

Furthermore, the NHL commissioner chose not to request the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) to exclude the team from Nevada’s sportsbook betting boards. This is because MGM Resorts International does not own the team, hence there’s no similar conflict of interest as the one between the Houston Rockets and Golden Nugget, or the Boston Celtics and Caesars Entertainment.

However, there is one team that MGM will not be accepting bets on – the recently acquired WNBA franchise, the Las Vegas Aces.

Future bets

Bettors began wagering on the Vegas Golden Knights prior to the start of the season. Betting opportunities for them to win the Stanley Cup have been in place since the team’s inception. As more bets were placed on the Golden Knights, their odds of winning fell.

Prior to the season, it was easy to find a sports book operator providing odds of winning the Stanley Cup at 250-1 or more. However, due to the high volume of betting, the odds have now reduced to 7-1 at Station Casinos at the time of writing this article.

The Golden Knights have drawn unprecedented betting amounts from both Nevada residents and visitors, unlike any hockey betting seen before. Several sports book operators have reported to the Las Vegas Review-Journal about an exceptional surge in hockey bets attributed to the Golden Knights.

Bettors still have the opportunity to place futures bets on the Golden Knights to win the division, conference, and Stanley Cup.

Pre-game bets

All sportsbooks in Nevada offer wagering on every game played by the Golden Knights. Traditional betting options, such as moneyline, puck line, and over/under totals, are universally available. Additionally, pre-game proposition bets are offered by certain sportsbook operators like Station Casinos and MGM Resorts International. Station Casinos, for instance, may offer a variety of pre-game proposition betting options.

  • Winner of the first period (who scored the most)
  • 1st period goals scored
  • Winner of the 2nd period (who scored higher)
  • 2nd period goals scored
  • Winner of the 3rd period (who scored the most)
  • 3rd period goals scored
  • Three-way bet regulation (team victory or draw after 60 minutes)
  • Each team’s margin of victory
  • Will certain players score
  • Each team’s total goals
  • Team to score first
  • Does the team that scores first win? (yes or no)
  • Will a score occur in the first 10 minutes?

MGM Resorts may also provide various pre-game proposition betting options such as the ones listed below:

  • Will the number of goals be odd or even periods?
  • Puck lines by period
  • Goals scored by period in total
  • First team to score by period
  • Will each team score in every period?

In-play wagering

Station Casinos has recently incorporated in-play wagering into their STN Sports betting app. The odds and betting options for these wagers are updated throughout the game.

The app may display over 40 different choices for each game, depending on when you check it. As the game goes on, certain betting options will no longer be available. For instance, once the first period concludes, any betting options related to it will be eliminated.

In Nevada, mobile and in-play bettors have the flexibility to place in-play wagers from any location, be it their home, a casino, or even while attending a game at the arena.
